k;Giti ca क्ङिति च ONPANINI 11005

Nor before a /kGit.

Addition to < nadhAtulop.... Do no replace with /guNa and /vRddhi before a /kGit affix.

This rule applies to affixes that would ordinarily cause /guNa or /vRddhi.

Example. Verbs affixes usually cause /guNa by rules hardsoft and pugantalagh...

nI नी + /zapne ने + /zap → **naya- नयॱ by hardsoft

dviS द्विष् + /tipdveS द्वेष् + /tip → **dveSTi द्वेष्टि by pugantalagh...

However, verb affix /kta has k क् label, so this rule debars hardsoft

nI नी + /kta → **nIta- नीतॱ

and pugantalagh...

dviS द्विष् + /kta → **dviSTa- द्विष्टॱ

and all other rules that replace with /guNa or /vRddhi.

Now an example with /tas, that has G ङ् label —

dviS द्विष् + /tas → **dviSTas द्विष्टस् "they2 hated"

How come /tas has G ङ् label? You didn't sing Gtas ङ्तस् nor tasG तस्ङ्.

It has G ङ् because rule sArvadhAtuk... says it does.

Affix /Gas has G ङ् label, does that prevent /guNa or /vRddhi somehow?

No; this rule only applies to affixes that would cause /guNa or /vRddhi if they did not have the G ङ् or k क्. which is the same thing as saying, it applies to verb affixes only.

Why does my book spell this sUtra as gkGitica ग्क्ङितिच?

That's a long and boring story. Just NVM the spelling and chant this sUtra as kGitica क्ङितिच.
