/znu comes after the /svAdi verbs
The /svAdi roots are the verb class five.
Before a tense, these verbs add "znu" after the root, instead of /zap. This /znu is hard by tiGzitsArvadh..., but it is not /pit, so, by sArvadhAtuk..., it does not cause /guNa of the root.
Yet, if the tense is hard and /pit, we get /guNa of the /znu —
**sunu- सुनुॱ + /laT /tip
→ suno- सुनोॱ + /tip by gbH
→ !**sunoti सुनोति "squeezes"
**cinu- चिनुॱ + /laT /tip
→ cino- चिनोॱ + /tip by gbH
→ **cinoti चिनोति "gathers"
And if the tense is hard and /apit, there is no gbH of course —
su सु + /laT /tas
→ **sunu- सुनुॱ + /laT /tas
→ !**sunutas सुनुतस् "they2 squeeze" (press out juice)
**sunu- सुनुॱ + /laT /jhi → !**sunvanti सुन्वन्ति "they3 squeeze"
Wait, doesn't aciznudhAt... say that we should have sunuvanti?
It says so, but this falls under the exception huznuvossArv....
