karNa yat te sabhA-madhye bahu vAcA vikatthitam = boasted
O Karna, thy loquacious boast in the midst of the assembly,
na me yudhi samo 'stIti tad idaM pratyupasthitam
na me yudhi samo 'st' .Iti tad idaM pratyupasthitam
na = no, not, doesn't
na me = my, (is) mine, I have (Gas); to me, for me (Ge); by me (TA)
na me yudhi = fight (yudh-)
na me yudhi samaH = same; equal; peer; equanimous
na me yudhi samo asti = there is
na me yudhi samo 'st' iti = (close quote); saying, thinking

Abandoning good breeding, thou utteredst many harsh words,
idaM tu duSkaraM manye yad idaM te cikIrSitam

idam = this
idaM tu = but, (ignore), and
idaM tu duSkaram = hard to do
idaM tu duSkaraM manye = I think
idaM tu duSkaraM manye yat = the one which; because, as
idaM tu duSkaraM manye yad idam = this
idaM tu duSkaraM manye yad idaM te = they; your (enclitic); to you (enclitic)

but this that thou endeavourest to do, is, I think, exceedingly difficult.

dharma-pAza-nibaddhena = bound, fettered, chained
dharma-pAza-nibaddhena yat = the one which; because, as
dharma-pAza-nibaddhena yan@ mayA = by me
dharma-pAza-nibaddhena yan@ mayA marSitam = was endured
dharma-pAza-nibaddhena yan@ mayA marSitaM purA = anciently
Fettered by the bonds of morality before, I desisted from vengeance then.

Having as thou sayst, passed thy exile in the woods in strict accordance with thy pledge

tat tvaM dharm'-.Arthavit kliSTaH samayaM bhettum icchasi
tat = that, he, them, she, it; and then, so, therefore
tat tvam = you (has su); -ness, -hood, -ship (affix)
tat tvaM dharma- = good (as opposed to evil), righteousness
tat tvaM dharm'-.Arthavit kliSTaH samayam = agreement, covenant, pact
tat tvaM dharm'-.Arthavit kliSTaH samayaM bhettum = to split, to break
tat tvaM dharm'-.Arthavit kliSTaH samayaM bhettum icchasi = you want
and being therefore weakened by practising an ascetic course of life, how canst thou desire a combat with me now!
