deriv LSK ETT STT aSTA ALPH OLDHOMEPAGE NEWHOMEPAGE
Whenever in this website a Sanskrit word that ends in s स् or r र् is placed before a pause, such as when I type —
"One of the words for horse is azvas अश्वस्."
then the reader is supposed to read that aloud as azvaH अश्वः (applying rules sasajuSoruH and kharavasAn...).
Of course if I say
"The word azvas अश्वस् means horse."
the reader may either read "azvo अश्वो means" (applying hazica ca), or "azvaH अश्वः (samll pause) means" (applying sasajuSoruH and kharavasAn...) — whatever feels easier ATM. Saying aloud "ushwusss" is VERBOTEN.
I do this to save space and because I am lazy. I don't want to have to write —
**azva- अश्वॱ + /su → azvas अश्वस् → **azvas अश्वस् when before a pause, by sasaju ससजु and kharavasAn...
**naya- नयॱ + /tas → nayatas नयतस् → **nayatas नयतस् when before a pause, by sasaju ससजु and kharavasAn...
**punar पुनर् + **punar पुनर् → punar punaH पुनर्पुनः when before a pause, by kharavasAn...
a thousand times.
