An important point about the Indian idea of "revelation" —

In the Bible and Quran God chooses someone to be a prophet and starts talking to them. But in India God does not reveal the veda to sages. The veda is out there and sages make great efforts to see (hear) it. So you can't say that it was revealed "to" vasiSTha वसिष्ठ, it was seen BY vasiSTha वसिष्ठ.
