In unicode devanAgarI, pri प्रि is internally spelled as pa प - /virAma - ra र - i इ and displayed as a ligature. This makes editing quite fun. If you place the cursor at the end of pri प्रि and press backspace, you get pra प्र, then backspace again and you get p प्, then backspace again and you get pa प, then backspace again and pa प vanishes. So you need four keystrokes to delete pri प्रि — you also need four keystrokes to type it.
