An old proverb says —

apANinIyan na prayujyeta
अपाणिनीयं न प्रयुज्येत
"Don't use anything non-pANinian."

Which Frank Herbert might have also translated as —

"The forms must be obeyed."

You don't have to take that proverb too seriously. Using a form that is not PC is okay if no one protests when you do it. Feel free to pray "namas tasyai namo namaHA" if you like — even though the HA is /apANinIya, you are in good company.
