The /luT tense is called /luT by Indian grammarians, and periphrastic future by Western grammarians.
It is used less often than the other future, the /lRT.
Calling it periphrastic is an utter misnomer. So don't do that.
Candravasu calls it "first future" or "second future", I always forget which one. So don't do that, it's confusing.
