What means previous, and eka एक sarva सर्व jarat जरत् purANa पुराण nava नव kevala केवल, (optionally compound ibc) with a word that has the same referent, with no change of meaning.
And such a compound is a /tatpuruSa.
Example with sarva- सर्वॱ —
sarveSu bhUteSu सर्वेषु भूतेषु "in all creatures"
→ !**sarvabhUteSu सर्वभूतेषु "in all creatures"
Example with prior time — If we first plough and afterwards level a field, then the word kRSTam कृष्टम् "ploughed" means prior time to the word samIkRtam समीकृतम् "levelled", and we may form the compound:
kRSTa-samIkRtam कृष्टॱसमीकृतम् "ploughed and then levelled"
However, if some fields were only ploughed, or some were only levelled, we cannot say that the fields are *kRSTa-samIkRtAni कृष्टॱसमीकृतानि — some of them are kRSTAni कृष्टानि, and some others samIkRtAni समीकृतानि.
