As for instance, sUtra karmaNidvit... > says that the object gets second ending, as the azva- अश्वॱ in —

azvam pazyati rAmaH अश्वं पश्यति रामः "Raama sees a horse"

However, in the sentence —

azvo dRSTo rAmeNa अश्वो दृष्टो रामेण "Raama saw a horse"

the same azva- अश्वॱ does not get second ending, because there is a word dRSTaH दृष्टः that already expresses that azva- अश्वॱ is the object. The word dRSTaH दृष्टः shows the object, and links to azvaH अश्वः here. This debars karmaNidvit... >, and some other sUtra gives azva- अश्वॱ first ending instead.
