Coulson remarks that the first person forms of the /loT —
gam गम् + /loT /mas → **gacchAma गच्छाम "let us go"
kR कृ + /loT /mip → **karavANi करवाणि ""let me do"
are seldom used in the Classical language in the sense of "let me do" or "let's do", as in, "what do we do today?" "let's go to the beach". In that sense, the plain /laT is much more common —
gam गम् + /laT /mas → **gacchAmas गच्छामस् "we go" / "let's go"
kR कृ + /laT /mip → **karomi करोमि "I do" / "let me do"
Yet, you'll hear the old forms used in that sense in the epics and the purANas —
carAma sarve pRthivIm puNyatIrthAM; tan naH kAryaM hanta gacchAma sarve ||
चराम सर्वे पृथिवीं पुण्यतीर्थांॱ तन्नः कार्यं हन्त गच्छाम सर्वे ॥
"let's all walk the Earth and her tIrthas, we have to do it, hey let's all go"

"Then the king replied, with joined hands,"
"Welcome your Holiness, what should I do for you?"

What's a tIrtha तीर्थ?
Whatever washes aways your sins when you bath in it is a tIrtha तीर्थ.
How did the king join hands?
See picture.
Wait, isn't namaste नमस्ते a racial slur?
Only in the USA. In India saying namaste नमस्ते is okay, even when you aren't talking Sanskrit.
