**maghavan- मघवन् "the generous" is a name of **indra- इन्द्रॱ. It is built from magha मघ "gift" and some affix.
It becomes maghavatr- sometimes by maghavAbah....
The /sambuddhi can be **maghavas मघवस्.
Rule zvayuvamagh... sometimes makes **maghavan- मघवन् into maghon- मघोन्.
It becomes "maghavatR-" sometimes by maghavAbah....
maghavat मघवत् + /su makes !**maghavAn मघवान् for some reason.
Wait, were does the lengthening in vAn वान् come from? If maghavat is an Rdit it should be maghavan, if it is an atu अतु base it should be maghavAn, and if the base is maghavan then we'd get madhavA, so this looks like an udit.
No clue, sorry. Maybe it is udit only before /su ?
