When k क् kh ख् g ग् gh घ् happen to be padafinal, they are replaced with g ग् by jhalAJjazonte —

ik इक् → ig इग्

When c च् happens to be padafinal, it is replaced with j ज् by jhalAJjazonte, then with g ग् by coHkuH, or maybe it was first with k क् by coHkuH, then with g ग् by jhalAJjazonte, either way we get g ग् —

**vAc- वाच् + /su
→ vAc वाच् by halGyAbbhyodIrgh...
→ vAg वाग् by coHkuH

Oddly, this does not happen to ch छ् (see ), and it happens to j ज् only sometimes.
