The /ktavatu-ender bases, such as
kR कृ + /ktavatu → !**kRtavat- कृतवत्
always show the doer, and are usually fakeverbs — they work as if they were the main verb of a sentence.
They show past time.
They will always have the same case as their doer. Which will be first ending by default when they are fakeverbs.
rAmaH kRtavAn kumbham रामः कृतवान्कुम्भम् "Raama made a pot" kRtavat- कृतवत् m + /su
lakSmI kRtavatI kumbham लक्ष्मी कृतवती कुम्भम् "Lakshmee made a pot" kRtavat- कृतवत् f + /su
tvam mama pitaraM hatavAn त्वं मम पितरं हतवान् "you killed my father" hatavat- हतवत् m + /su
There is no need for the doer word to appear in the sentence, if it is clear from context —
kRtavAn kumbham कृतवान्कुम्भम् "he made a pot"
kRtavatI kumbham कृतवती कुम्भम् "she made a pot"
In the hatavAn mama हतवान्मम here — the ending /su after hatavat- हतवत् (han हन् + /ktavatu m + /su → hatavAn हतवान्) shows that its doer is masculine and singular —
tyAjayiSyAmi te prANAn | pitaraM hatavAn mama ||
त्याजयिष्यामि ते प्राणान्। पितरं हतवान्मम ॥
"I will kill you. (You) killed my father"
There is no need to add the word **tvam त्वम्.
If as you say they are always the main word of the sentence, these /ktavatu words will always take first ending by default, yes?
