(Whatever replaces) a tense is called a flat (/parasmaipada).
Not many affixes can replace a tense. The most common ones mainly the eighteen /tiG endings, /zatR, /kvasu, /zAnac.
The first nine of the /tiG, /zatR, and /kvasu, are called flat endings.
Why are /ta /AtAm /jha etc. not called flat?
