The syllable before a /lit affix gets the acute.
Example. The word —
kR कृ + /san + /Nvul → kR कृ + /san + akal अकल् → !**cikIrSaka- चिकीर्षकॱ "one who wants to make"
has the accent on the kI की because akal अकल् is /lit. Similarly in
**cakR- चकृॱ + /Nal → **cakAra चकार
the kA का has the acute. Also the ka क in **cakara चकर has the acute, because there /Nal is no longer /Nit, but is still /lit.
