Add /san optionally after a transitive action root to mean that the doer wants to do the action.
Example. The verb **karoti "does" comes from root kR . Now the verb **cikIrSati "wans to do" is explained by saying that it comes from the derivative root cikIrSa . This rule says that we can add /san to the root kR to mean "wanna do", as in —
kR "to do" + /san allowed by this rule
→ cikR + /san by sanyaGoH ff
→ **cikIrSa by other rules
And rule sanAdyantAdh... teaches that the resulting cikIrSa is a root. This allows us to add tenses and other /kRt affixes to it —
cikIrSa + /laT /tip → **cikIrSati "wants to do"
cikIrSa + u → **cikIrSu- "that wants to do"
Some more examples —
yudh "fight" + /san → **yuyutsa
**yuyutsa + /u → **yuyutsu- "one that wants to fight"
