Replace /lRT with /sat optionally.

/sat means /zatR or /zAnac.

These /zatR /zAnac that replace /lRT (not /laT as usual) mean action right after the main verb's action, or just intention —

ghaTaG kariSyantam pazya घटं करिष्यन्तं पश्य "look at him about to make a pot"

To mean action right before the main verb's action, you may use /ktavatu after the root —

ghaTaG kRtavantam pazya घटं कृतवन्तं पश्य "look at him who has just made a pot"

The regular /zatR /zAnac, that replace /laT by laTazzatRz..., are allowed only for action that is simultaneous with the main verb action —

spotan dravantam pazya स्पोतं द्रवन्तं पश्य "see Spot run"

ghaTaG kurvantam pazya घटं कुर्वन्तं पश्य "look at him who is making a pot"

Why do we say "optionally"?

Actually, in cases like ghaTaG kariSyantam pazya घटं करिष्यन्तं पश्य there is no option — whenever the rules laTazzatRz... ff allow /laT to be replaced with /sat, if intention or futurity is meant, replacing /laT with /lRT and /lRT with /sat is compulsory.

But if the replacing of /laT with /sat is not allowed, then the replacing of /lRT with /sat is still optional —
