/han + /laT /tip → !**hanti हन्ति "kills"
It is called /hanti in some sUtras, such as hohanterJNinn....
The rootnoun /han- means "killer of" and only appears ifc. Compared with other stems in an अन्, like -rAjan-, /han stems are unusual because
(1) inhanpUSAry... sometimes prevents the lengthening before strong.
(2) hohanterJNinn... sometimes turns h ह् into gh घ्.
