Replace R ऋ-enders with "AnaG" (when ibc) in a /dvandva.
Example:
mAtR- मातृॱ + pitR पितृ + /au
→ mAtAn- मातान् + pitR- पितृॱ + /au by this rule and Gicca
→ mAtA- माताॱ + pitR- पितृॱ + /au by nalopaHprAt...
→ !**mAtApitarau मातापितरौ "parents"
Lemme get this strite. We replace R ऋ with anaG अनङ्, then the G ङ् disappears by tasyalopaH, the a अ disappears coz it's just feop, the n न् disappears by nalopaHprAt... and our anaG अनङ् is shaved down to just A आ. Then Why Da Heck didn't we just replace R ऋ with A आ to start with? Way simpler!
Coz uraNraparaH would've kicken in. Replacing R ऋ with A आ triggers uraNraparaH. Replacing R ऋ with AnaG आनङ् does not, because An आन् has two letters.
An old saying goes —
sukSmatA 'sti na tu drohaK kaz cin manasi pANineH
सुक्ष्मता ऽस्ति न तु द्रोह⩆ कश्चिन्मनसि पाणिनेः
"/pANini is slick, but he isn't mean".
