03095003c pratyAkhyAnAya cAzaktaH pradAtum api ncchata And though unwilling to give the Muni his daughter, he dared not refuse.
03095004a tatasH sa bhAryAm abhyetya provAca pRthivIpatiH And that lord of earth then, approaching his queen, said,
03095004c maharSir vIryavAn eSa kruddhazH zApAgninA dahet 'This RSi is endued with great energy. If angry, he may consume me with the fire of his curse.

03095005c lopAmudrAbhigamyedaGM kAle vacanam abravIt And beholding the king along with the queen afflicted with sorrow, Lopamudra approached them in due time and said,

03095007c lopAmudrAnM tataH prAdAd vidhipUrvaM vizAM pate And at these words of his daughter, O monarch, the king gave away Lopamudra unto the illustrious Agastya with due rites.

03095016a asaMzayamM prajAhetor bhAryAmM patir avindata 'The husband, without doubt, weddeth the wife for offspring.
03095016c yA tu tvayi mama prItis tAm RSe kartum arhasi But it behoveth thee, O RSi, to show that love to me which I have for thee.
03095017a yathA pitur gRhe vipra prAsAde zayanamM mama On a bed like to that which I had in the palace of my father,
03095017c tathAvidhe tvaM zayane mAm upaitum ihArhasi it behoveth thee, O regenerate one, to approach me.
03095018a icchAmi tvAM sragviNaJM ca bhUSaNaiz ca vibhUSitam I also desire that thou shouldst be decked in garlands of flowers and other ornaments,
03095018c upasartuM yathAkAmanM divyAbharaNabhUSitA and that I should approach thee adorned in those celestial ornaments that I like. Otherwise, I cannot approach thee, dressed in these rags dyed in red. Nor, O regenerate RSi, it is sinful to wear ornaments (on such an occasion).'
03095019 agastya uvAca Hearing these words of his wife, Agastya replied,
03095019a na vai dhanAni vidyante lopAmudre tathA mama
03095019c yathAvidhAni kalyANi pitus tava sumadhyame 'O blessed girl, O thou of slender waist, I have not wealth like what thy father hath, O Lopamudra!' .
03095020 lopAmudrovAca She answered saying,
03095020a Izo 'si tapasA sarvaM samAhartum ihezvara 'Thou who art endued with wealth of asceticism, art certainly able to bring hither
03095020c kSaNena jIvaloke yad vasu kiJM cana vidyate within a moment, by ascetic power, everything that exists in the world of men.'
03095021 agastya uvAca Agastya said,
03095021a evam etad yathAttha tvanM tapovyayakaranM tu me 'It is even so as thou hast said. That, however, would waste my ascetic merit.
03095021c yathA tu me na nazyeta tapas tan mAmM pracodaya O bid me do that which may not loosen my ascetic merit.'
03095022 lopAmudrovAca Lopamudra then said,
03095022a alpAvaziSTaH kAlo 'yam Rtau mama tapodhana 'O thou endued with wealth of asceticism, my season will not last long,
03095022c na cAnyathAham icchAmi tvAm upaituGM kathaJM cana I do not desire, however, to approach thee otherwise.
03095023a na cApi dharmam icchAmi viloptunM te tapodhana Nor do I desire to diminish thy (ascetic) merit in any way.
03095023c etat tu me yathAkAmaM samMpAdayitum arhasi It behoveth thee, however, to do as I desire, without injuring thy virtue.'
03095024 agastya uvAca ''Agastya then said,
03095024a yady eSa kAmasH subhage tava buddhyA vinizcitaH 'O blessed girl, if this be the resolve that thou hast settled in thy heart,
03095024c hanta gacchAmy ahamM bhadre cara kAmam iha sthitA I will go out in quest of wealth. Meanwhile, stay thou here as it pleaseth thee.''
