'bhISma continued,

05179001a tato mAm abravId rAmaH prahasann iva bhArata
'Hearing these words of mine. rAma addressed me, laughingly saying,

05179001c diSTyA bhISma mayA sArdhaM yoddhum icchasi saGMgare
'By good luck it is, O bhISma, that thou desirest to fight with me in battle!

05179002a ayaGM gacchAmi kauravya kurukSetranM tvayA saha
O thou of kuru's race, even now I go with thee to kurukSetra!

05179002c bhASitanM tat kariSyAmi tatrAgaccheH paraMtapa
I will do what thou hast said! Come thither, O chastiser of foes!

05179003a tatra tvAnM nihatamM mAtA mayA zarazatAcitam
Let thy mother, Jahnavi, O bhISma, behold thee dead on that plain, pierced with my shafts,

05179003c jAhnavI pazyatAmM bhISma gRdhrakaGkabaDAzanam
and become the food of vultures, crows, and other carnivorous birds!

05179004a kRpaNanM tvAm abhiprekSya siddhacAraNasevitA
Let that goddess worshipped by Siddhas and Charanas,

05179004c mayA vinihatanM devI rodatAm adya pArthiva
weep today, O king,

05179005a atadarhA mahAbhAgA bhagIrathasutA nadI
however undeserving she may be of seeing such a sight,
that blessed daughter of Bhagiratha, in the form of a river,

05179005c yA tvAm ajIjanan mandaM yuddhakAmukam Aturam
who begat thy wicked self, beholding thee slain by me and lying miserable on that plain.
