Optionally add /cvi after a word to mean that the doer makes it be what it earlier was not; but only if ibc before kR कृ bhU भू /as.

The word abhUta-tadbhAve अभूतॱतद्भावे means "when it becomes what it was not" and is not in /pANini's original; it was added by the /vArttika-maker.

This "cvi" is a zero-affix; it loses v व् by verapRktasya.

So if someone makes something that is not white turn white, we may say

azuklaM zuklaG karoti अशुक्लं शुक्लं करोति "he makes the nonwhite white"

or simply —

azuklaM zuklaG karoti अशुक्लं शुक्लं करोति
→ zuklam शुक्लम् + /cvi + **karoti करोति by this rule
→ zukla शुक्ल + /cvi + karoti करोति by supodhAtupr...
→ zuklI शुक्ली + /cvi + karoti करोति by asyacvau

This /cvi causes lengthening of U ऊ by cvauca —

laghUkaroti लघूकरोति "lightens"

Other vowels become I ई by either asyacvau or cvauca.
