Replace the initial S ष् of root with s स्.

In other words, there are no real roots starting with S ष्. Those that appear to start with S ष् in the /dhAtupATha, such as Sic षिच् or Saha षह, actually start with s स्. Look —

/sic' + /zap + /tip → siJcati सिञ्चति
Sah षह् + /zap + /ta → sahate सहते

These roots are called Sa-roots. They carry S ष् in the /dhAtupATha just to remind us that their s स् becomes S ष् when sUtra Adezapraty... says so.
