deriv LSK ETT STT aSTA ALPH OLDHOMEPAGE NEWHOMEPAGE
As आस् loses s स् before all /haz letters, by bhobhagoagh... and halisarveSAm.
Back to sandhi tables.
This rule is very confusing. Because, when a word appears to end in A आ and the next word starts with a /haz, we can never be sure if it is a true A आ word,
bhavatyA dRSTaG kim भवत्या दृष्टं किम् "what did you see, lady?", from **bhavatyA भवत्या
or an As आस् word affected by this rule —
bhavatyA nAma kim भवत्या नाम किम् "what's your name, lady?", from **bhavatyAs भवत्यास्
When we hear A आ before /khar however, it was a true A आ, never As आस्.
**bhavatI- भवतीॱ + /TA → !**bhavatyA भवत्या, like **nadyA नद्या
**bhavatI- भवतीॱ + /Gas → **bhavatyAs भवत्यास्, like **nadyAs नद्यास्
