Sometimes the /veda flouts hrasvaH, AFI with tuj तुज्.

This is a don't panic vedic rule.

So don't panic when the /veda sings —

tuj तुज् + /kAnac → !**tUtujAnas तूतुजानस्

As in —

´indr' ´A yAhi t´UtujAna
´upa br´ahmANi harivaH |
sut´e dadhiSva naz c´anaH ||
"Approach, O Indra, hasting thee, O Lord of Bay Horses, to the prayers.
In our libation take delight."
(Rg 1.3.6)

This **harivas is the /sambuddhi of harivat , "having bay horses" according to Griffith.
