Wait... vAsudeva वासुदेव being the name of a kSatriya क्षत्रिय, sUtra gotrakSatriy... > would have given it vuJ वुञ् anyway, which (by JnityAdirnity...) is as good as vun वुन्. So, couldn't this sUtra have been just arjunAd vun अर्जुनाद्वुन्?

The very fact that the sUtra is not arjunAd vun अर्जुनाद्वुन् shows by /jJApaka that vAsudeva वासुदेव does not mean here a kSatriya क्षत्रिय, but is one of the names of God. Therefore this rule does not apply when meaning a devotee of a kSatriya क्षत्रिय called vAsudeva वासुदेव — that one falls under gotrakSatriy... > and indeed gets /vuJ.

Shouldn't rule ajAdyadantam make arjuna अर्जुन go first in this sUtra?

Again, the very fact that ajAdyadantam is broken shows by /jJApaka that objects of veneration go first regardless of vowel count.
