As for instance, tasyApatyam 9> will add /aN'' because it doesn't say what /taddhita we have to add, but we know it must be adding some /taddhita.
But oraJ will add /aJ because it says /aJ.
This "aN''" /taddhita has two dozen meanings, all of them in the line of "derived from", "related to", "having to do with", "belonging to". E.g. it can mean "book made by" (according to kRtegranthe), or "a descendant" (by tasyApatyam 9>).
The /Nit causes /vRddhi of the first vowel of the stem, by taddhiteSvac.... It zaps a अ A आ i इ I ई by yasyetica, and causes /guNa of final u उ by orguNaH.
