/Nopadeza roots get /Natvam after an /upasarga, even if not in a compound.
So from the /Nopadeza root nad नद् "make a sound" we get —
/pra + nadati नदति → !**praNadati प्रणदति "shouts"
Of course nothing happens if the /upasarga has no r र् —
sannadati संनदति "roars"
What if a root starts with n न् in the /dhAtupATha?
Then nothing happens —
!**parinRtyati परिनृत्यति "dances around"
!**pranardati प्रनर्दति "roars forth"
There are eight such roots — nard नर्द् "roar", nRt नृत् "dance", and six others, see candravasu.
