Whenever t त् th थ् d द् dh ध् happen to be padafinal, they are replaced with d द् by jhalAJjazonte —
**indrajit- इन्द्रजित् + /su
→ indrajit इन्द्रजित् by halGyAbbhyodIrgh...
→ indrajid इन्द्रजिद् by jhalAJjazonte
**suhRd- सुहृद् + /su
→ suhRd सुहृद् by halGyAbbhyodIrgh...
**hRd- हृद् + /su
→ hRd हृद् by svamornapuMs...
**suyudh- सुयुध् + /su
→ suyudh सुयुध् by halGyAbbhyodIrgh...
→ suyud सुयुद् by jhalAJjazonte
This d द् will be replaced, by vAvasAne, with t त् before a pause —
indrajit इन्द्रजित् + pause → indrajid इन्द्रजिद् → indrajit इन्द्रजित्
will stay, by no rules, before vowels and /haz —
bhagavat- भगवत् + gItA गीता → bhagavad भगवद् + gItA गीता by jhalAJjazonte → bhagavadgItA भगवद्गीता
and will turn into t त्, by kharica, before /khar —
indrajittatra इन्द्रजित्तत्र
After that,the थे t त् or d द् will maybe be affected by other rules, like stozzcunAzcuH or STunASTuH.
I have the bad custom of sometimes writing padafinal d द् as t त्, or t त् as d द्, without warning you that one of the above rules is working. Sorry. You will have to get used to the idea that those two are interchangeable.
