deriv LSK ETT STT aSTA ALPH OLDHOMEPAGE NEWHOMEPAGE
An objectshowing tense shows the object, namely, it is replaced by a /tiG that has the same number and person as the object of the root.
By bhAvakarmaNoH, objectshowing tenses are always replaced with /Atmanepada /tiG.
Example. When the tense /laT is objectshowing, rule sArvadhAtuk... adds /yak after the root —
pac पच् + objectshowing /laT /ta
→ pac पच् + /yak + ta त
→ **pacya- पच्यॱ + ta त
→ **pacyate पच्यते "is cooked"
But when the same tense is doershowing, rule kartarizap adds /zap —
pac पच् + doershowing /laT /ta
→ **pacate पचते "he cooks for himself"
