However, the a अ of the na न is itself a sort of /guNa-like thing, because it disappears (by znasorallopaH) before the /apit endings, the ones that ordinarily don't cause /guNa —

**yunaj- युनज् + /tas → **yuGktas युङ्क्तस् "both join"

**runadh- रुनध् + /mas → **rundhmas रुन्ध्मस् "we obstruct"

**runadh- रुनध् + /jhi → **rundhanti रुन्धन्ति "they obstruct"

As the last letter of the root is not cushioned from the /tiG by a /vikaraNa, we have lots of fun with sound change rules, same as with the /adAdi roots. See below for the fine details.
