zeSo ghy a-sakhi

शेषो घ्यॱसखि ONPANINI 14007

Nounbases that are not /nadI, and end in i u , are called /ghi, except sakhi- सखिॱ.

There are three types of bases ending in i u

  1. masculines and neuters are always /ghi.
  2. feminines too are /ghi, except when < Gitihrasvazca makes them /nadI before some endings.
  3. sakhi- सखिॱ m "friend", and uncompounded pati- पतिॱ m "lord" (see patissamAs... >), are neither /ghi nor /nadI.

These /ghi bases have three oddities:

HOLE — (except neuter non-adjectives, see !!)

What's the zeSaH शेषः word in the rule mean?

It means "the rest", namely, "those that were not mentioned in the previous rules".
