(A consonant /pit) gets /IT after /brU.
/brU + /laT /tip → !**bravIti ब्रवीति "says"
/brU + /laG /tip → !**abravIt अब्रवीत् "he / she said"
Cf. **roditi रोदिति.
Why do we say /pit?
/brU + /laT /tas → !**brUtaH ब्रूतः "both say"
Why do we say "consonant"?
/brU + /loT /mip → brU ब्रू + Ani आनि → !**bravANi ब्रवाणि "I shall say"
Does this apply to the /liT?
No. In the /liT and before all soft affixes, /brU becomes /vac by bruvovaciH —
brU ब्रू + /liT /sip → brU ब्रू + /thal → vac वच् + /thal → **uvaktha उवक्थ / **uvacitha उवचिथ "you' said"
with no sthAnivadAd... at all.
Why does candravasu say that the I ई is placed AFTER /brU?
Slip of the pen. That can't be, /IT is a Titaugment.
