Rule abhyAsecarca deaspirates the /abhyAsa, <<< hrasvaH shortens the vowel. HOLE
Why did you replace h ह् with j ज्? Shouldn't the most alike to h ह् be jh झ्, not j ज्?
Indeed it is jh झ्. But we applied abhyAsecarca here.
I always misrember kuhozcuH कुहोश्चुः, mixing it up with coHkuH.
"X + os ओस्" means "replace X". So ku;hoH कुॱहोः replaces ku;h कुॱह्, while coH चोः replaces /cu.
Alternatively, ignore the endings and replace the first word with the second — kuhozcuH कुहोश्चुः replaces ku;ha कुॱह with /cu, coHkuH replaces /cu with /ku. /pANini says the replaced first and the replacement afterwards whenever he can, as in eruH, uraNraparaH, ecoyavAyAvaH, jhontaH, torli eca::igghrasv..., eta::ai, and the Ter e टेरे at the end of Tita::Atman....
