When a /taddhita gets luked, the feminine affix of the /upasarjana gets luked too.
The word indrANI इन्द्राणी means a goddess related to indra- इन्द्रॱ, it is formed by adding two feminine affixes, "Anuk" and /GIS, after the base indra- इन्द्रॱ.
Now, we may form a descriptive compound paJca पञ्च + indrANI इन्द्राणी + /aN'', where the /taddhita /aN'' has the force of "sacred to". Then, rule dvigorlugan... replaces the /aN'' with /luk. That triggers this rule, which removes the two feminine affixes, and we get —
paJcendraH पञ्चेन्द्रः "(cake) sacred to the five indrANIs"
Why do we say "a /taddhita"?
When we compound together gArgyAH kulam गार्ग्याः कुलम् "the family of Gaargee", the /Gas affix gets luked by supodhAtupr..., but the /GI stays this time, because /Gas is a /sup, not a /taddhita —
