@delete su after consonants or long GI Ap

By halGyAbbhyodIrgh..., /su is deleted after consonants or long /GI /Ap.

All the examples here are mf bases because svamornapuMs... deletes /su after neuters before this rule can work.

After consonants —

**suhRd- सुहृद् mf + /su → **suhRt' सुहृत्ऽ "friend" by halGyAbbhyodIrgh... and vAvasAne

**vidyut- विद्युत् f + /suvidyut विद्युत् by halGyAbbhyodIrgh... → **vidyud' विद्युद्ऽ by jhalAJjazonte → **vidyut' विद्युत्ऽ normalizing

**rAjan- राजन् m + /surAjan राजन् by halGyAbbhyodIrgh... → **rAjA राजा "king"

**rakSas- रक्षस् n + /surakSas रक्षस् by halGyAbbhyodIrgh...!**rakSaH रक्षः n "male ogre"

After long /GI, /Ap

**vRkI- वृकीॱ f "she-wolf" + /su!**vRkI वृकी " s she-wolf"

**kumArI- कुमारीॱ + /sukumArI कुमारी "princess", "little girl", "young lady"

**sItA- सीताॱ + /su!**sItA सीता

**azvA- अश्वाॱ f + /su!**azvA अश्वा f "mare"

This rule deletes the /sambuddhi kind of /su too. See the examples **rAjan' राजन्ऽ, **pitar पितर्, **uzanas उशनस्, **sIte सीते, **kumAri कुमारि. See also deletion of sambuddhi.

Why do we say "long" /GI /Ap? Aren't those two always long?

No. They are short when gostriyorup... shortens them, and then they get to keep their /su

**atikhaTvas अतिखट्वस् m "one who no longer has a khaTvA"

**niSkauzAmbis निष्कौशाम्बिस् m "the guy who left kauzAmbI"

As halGyAbbhyodIrgh... does not apply after short /GI /Ap, it cannot erase the /sambuddhi after them. It is lost anyway however, but by eGhrasvAtsamb.... So we say —

he 'tikhaTva हे ऽतिखट्व "hey you homeless dude",
he niSkauzAmbe हे निष्कौशाम्बे "hey you the guy from Kaushaambee".
