Reduplication is the doubling of a root, or of some piece of it, as in —
pat पत् + /liT /tip → pa प + pat पत् + /Nal → **papAta पपात "fell"
(This reduplication of a root is not the same as the repetition of a whole word.)
Rules 61001 ekAcodvepr... to 61007 tujAdInAnd... teach HOW to reduplicate.
These are some examples —
pac पच् → **papac- पपच्
nI नी → **ninI- निनीॱ
kR कृ → **cakR- चकृॱ
hu हु → **juhu- जुहुॱ
yudh युध् → **yuyudh- युयुध्
aTiS अटिष् → aTiTiS अटिटिष्
gam गम् → **jagam- जगम्
Then the next four sUtras explain WHEN to reduplicate —
before /liT (by 61008 liTidhAtor...),
before /san and /yaG (by 61009 sanyaGoH),
before /zlu (by 61010 zlau),
and before /caG (by 61011 caGi).
