A /kit is anything that has the labelletter k क्.
By kGitica, a /kit in an non-/taddhita prevents it from triggering any rules that replace with /guNa or /vRddhi (such as sArvadhAtuk... and pugantalagh...). See /kta, /kyap, /ksa for examples.
A /kit in a /taddhita causes /vRddhi of the first vowel of the stem by kitica. See /Thak, /kyac for examples.
A /kit in an augment makes it attach AFTER whatever it attaches to. See AdyantauTak....
Some /kit affixes delete the last nasal of roots by anudAttop....
/liT endings are /kit when asaMyogAll... says so.
/san is /kit sometimes by ikojhal.
/liG and /sic sometimes become /kit by uzca.
I find it confusing that k क् in a /taddhita causes /vRddhi, and k क् in a verb affix prevents /vRddhi. Why didn't /pANini just use different letters for these two?
Because he didn't have many letters available to make /it with. So, some have to do double duty.
