deriv LSK ETT STT aSTA ALPH OLDHOMEPAGE NEWHOMEPAGE
(See iT of liT too.)
The /liT affixes cause reduplication by liTidhAtor....
They are replaced, by parasmaipad... and liTastajhay....
/Nal and /thal cause gbS. The rest are /kit and don't, by asaMyogAll.... Examples —
**cakrus चक्रुस् **Ucatus ऊचतुस् **cikSipus चिक्षिपुस् **cakre चक्रे **cakre' चक्रेऽ
Before /Nal, ata::upadh... will turn nexttolast a अ into /vRddhi —
pac पच् + /Nal → pAc पाच् by ata::upadh... → **papAca पपाच
And also a nexttolast a अ that comes from gbS —
kR कृ + /Nal → kar कर् by gbs → kAr कार् by ata::upadh... → ca च + kAr कार् + a अ → **cakAra चकार
nI नी → ne ने by gbs → nay नय् by ecoy एचोय् → nAy नाय् by ata::upadh... → **ninAya निनाय
zru श्रु → zro श्रो → zrav श्रव् → **zuzrAva शुश्राव
But when /Nal replaces /mip, then NaluttamovA optionally debars this ata::upadh... —
**papaca पपच "I cooked", **cakara चकर "I did", **ninaya निनय "I led", **zuzrava शुश्रव "I heard"
When there is no nexttolast a अ, then we still get gbS before /Nal /thal —
bhid भिद् + /Nal
→ bhed भेद् + /Nal by gbS
→ **bibheda बिभेद "he divided"
bhid भिद् + /thal
→ bhid भिद् + ithal इथल् by ArdhadhAtuk...
→ **bibheditha बिभेदिथ "you' divided"
But bhid भिद् is /aniT. How come /thal gets /iT there?
Most roots become /seT before /liT. Only the roots listed in kRsRbhRvRst... don't.
But pac पच्, also an /aniT root, is not in that exceptions list. How come there is no i इ in **papaktha पपक्थ?
In that case, kRsRbhRvRst... is debarred by upadezetvataH, that says that pac पच् is /aniT before /thal because it is /aniT before /tAs. So according to upadezetvataH we must say —
pac पच् + /thal → **papac- पपच् + /thal → **papaktha पपक्थ
Yet, according to RtobhAradv..., rule upadezetvataH is optional after non-R ऋ, so if we don't use it, kRsRbhRvRst... makes pac पच् /seT before /thal —
pac पच् + /thal → **pec- पेच् + (/iT + /thal) → **pecitha पेचिथ
